A group of villagers in Karbi Anglong lynched a 40-year-old man over an alleged illicit affair on Sunday night.
According to police, the incident took place on Sunday night when the victim Monsing Rongpi resident of Barelong Bey Village under Bakalia police station was seen entering the resident of a woman. Earlier, the villagers have also warned them to discontinue their affair.
The victim was attacked with bamboo sticks, iron rods and sharp instrument, and died due to injuries sustained in the assault, police said.
Meanwhile, eight persons have been arrested by police and a case has been registered with Bakalia police station.
