Aamir Khan apologizes for lying about Sitare Zameen Par’s YouTube release

Aamir Khan confirmed during a press conference in Mumbai that his latest film, Sitaare Zameen Par, will be distributed straight on YouTube rather than through over-the-top (OTT) distribution. During the film’s June 20 theatrical premiere, the actor expressed regret for lying about it for weeks and maintained his position on pay-per-view versus subscription models. During the press conference, Aamir was questioned about whether he had told everyone that Sitaare Zameen Par will be made available on YouTube following its theatrical run.

After acknowledging his mistake, he remarked, “I fold my hands and apologize because I lied when I said Sitaare Zameen Par wouldn’t be released on YouTube. Because I had no other option, I did it. The movie’s theater business needed to be safeguarded. I am devoted to theaters since they are where my life started. Hence, I have consistently worked to safeguard my films’ theatrical business. I’m sorry, though, because I had to lie. Otherwise, my hopes for this movie would have been dashed.”

Aamir Khan, an actor and producer, has criticized the film industry for releasing movies on over-the-top (OTT) platforms eight weeks after their theatrical debut. He believes that the subscription model is causing harm and that people are only subscribing to the platform. Khan plans to release Sitaare Zameen Par on YouTube six weeks after its theatrical release and plans to release every film he has made under the Aamir Khan Productions banner on the platform.
