During the film’s June 20 theatrical premiere, the actor expressed regret for lying about it for weeks and maintained his position on pay-per-view versus subscription models. During the press conference, Aamir was questioned about whether he had told everyone that Sitaare Zameen Par will be made available on YouTube following its theatrical run.
After acknowledging his mistake, he remarked, “I fold my hands and apologize because I lied when I said Sitaare Zameen Par wouldn’t be released on YouTube. Because I had no other option, I did it. The movie’s theater business needed to be safeguarded. I am devoted to theaters since they are where my life started. Hence, I have consistently worked to safeguard my films’ theatrical business. I’m sorry, though, because I had to lie. Otherwise, my hopes for this movie would have been dashed.”
