Despite being one of Bollywood’s most talked-about couples, actors Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan seldom ever discuss their relationship in public. But in a recent interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, Abhishek talked candidly about his first encounter with Aishwarya in person and commended her for being instrumental in raising their daughter, Aaradhya Bachchan. Abhishek remembered being in Switzerland with director Mehul Kumar and their production manager, Shagun Vag, for a site scout for his father Amitabh Bachchan’s movie Mrityudaata.
He had grown up and attended a boarding school there, so he was familiar with the areas; therefore, his mother, Jaya Bachchan, had sent him along. It just so happened that at the same time, his good friend Bobby Deol was in Switzerland filming Aur Pyaar Ho Gaya, starring Aishwarya Rai. Then, Abhishek talked about how their daughter Aaradhya was raised well in spite of being in the spotlight and gave Aishwarya credit for it. “I have to give her mother full credit for that,” he remarked.
While Aishwarya and Aaradhya handle the heavy lifting, I get to go out and film my own movies. She is selfless and incredible. In the middle of the 2000s, Abhishek and Aishwarya’s relationship started to take off, especially when they collaborated on movies like Dhai Akshar Prem Ke, Kuch Naa Kaho, and eventually Guru, where their on-screen chemistry developed into a romantic relationship in real life. In January 2007, the pair became engaged, and on April 20, 2007, they were married in a lavish ceremony in Mumbai. In 2011, their daughter Aaradhya was born.
