Designer Manish Malhotra has called his partnership with Air India the start of a “journey of joy and collaboration” to create new uniforms for the airline’s staff.
Malhotra will design the new look for Air India’s 10,000 flight crew, ground staff and security personnel.
“It’s an absolute honour to collaborate with @AirIndia, our national flying ambassadors. Reimagining their uniforms is the onset of a journey of joy and collaboration, and I am excited to embark on it,” Malhotra wrote on Instagram.
Air India on Thursday said it expects to roll out the new look for its uniformed staff by the end of 2023.
Manish Malhotra, 56, is best known for designing clothes for Bollywood actors.
Malhotra and his team started meeting Air India’s frontline employees, discussing and fitting sessions with them to better understand their special needs. The new attire will include churidars for women and suits for male attendants, reports Hindustan Times.
