Speculation surrounding a Hindi remake of Sankranthiki Vasthunnam featuring Akshay Kumar has been circulating for some time, with Dil Raju reportedly producing and Anees Bazmee attached to direct. However, recent developments confirm that Akshay will not be involved in the project.
A source close to the actor clarified, “Akshay has a packed slate, including Haiwaan, Bhagam Bhaag 2, Welcome To The Jungle, and Hera Pheri 3, along with a few unannounced ventures. He watched the original Venkatesh film purely as a fan, not with remake intentions. While he has met Anees Bazmee recently, it was for a different collaboration.”
Industry insiders further noted that Akshay’s appreciation for Venkatesh’s work stems from his long-standing admiration, not from any plans to adapt the film. With Akshay stepping away, the casting for the lead role in the potential remake remains open, leaving fans curious about who might take on the mantle if the project moves ahead.
