Actor Akshay Oberoi has described his upcoming role in Dharma Productions’ film Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari as the fulfillment of a decade-long aspiration. Directed by Shashank Khaitan, the film features an ensemble cast including Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Maniesh Paul, and Rohit Saraf, and is slated for theatrical release on October 2.
Reflecting on his journey, Oberoi shared that his desire to work with Khaitan dates back to 2014, when he first saw the trailer of Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. “I was instantly struck by its scale, freshness, and the visual appeal Shashank brought to the screen,” he recalled. “I made a silent wish that someday I’d get the chance to work with him. At the time, it felt like a far-off dream, but I held on to that thought. And here we are, ten years later, and that wish is finally becoming a reality”.
Oberoi emphasized the emotional significance of being part of a Dharma Productions project, calling the experience “surreal and gratifying.” He added that the film’s vibrant energy and collaborative spirit on set made the journey especially memorable.
Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari is positioned as a colorful family entertainer, blending romance, comedy, and drama. The teaser, which recently debuted online, showcases Varun Dhawan in a playful homage to Baahubali, setting the tone for a film that promises both spectacle and heart.
The film will face stiff competition at the box office, releasing alongside Rishab Shetty’s Kantara: A Legend – Chapter 1 and Harshvardhan Rane’s Ek Deewane Ki Deewaniyat. Nonetheless, industry insiders expect strong audience interest, especially given the film’s star-studded cast and Khaitan’s track record with successful romantic comedies.
For Akshay Oberoi, the project marks another milestone in a career defined by versatility and persistence. His role in Sunny Sanskari Ki Tulsi Kumari reinforces his growing presence in both mainstream and content-driven cinema.
