Akshay & Riteish’s ‘Housefull 5’: Advance Booking Begins

Get ready for double the laughs and double the suspense! The latest installment in the popular comedy franchise, “Housefull 5,” is offering audiences a unique cinematic experience with two versions, 5A and 5B, each featuring a different ending. Production banner Nadiadwala Grandson announced the opening of advance bookings for both on Tuesday, accompanied by a video featuring franchise regulars Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh.

“Housefull 5A vs. 5B? Why pick one when you can laugh through both! Let the madness begin. In cinemas on June 6th. Advance Booking Open. Book your tickets now,” the makers shared on Instagram.

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala recently revealed the innovative approach of releasing the comedy-drama with two distinct conclusions. In the latest promotional video, Akshay and Riteish confirmed that while the jokes, cast, and core storyline remain consistent across both versions, the identity of the killer will differ.

Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, “Housefull 5” reunites Akshay Kumar and Riteish Deshmukh with Abhishek Bachchan. The ensemble cast also includes Nargis Fakhri, Sonam Bajwa, Jacqueline Fernandez, alongside veterans Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff, Nana Patekar, and Chunky Panday.

The film centers around three individuals impersonating the heir of a deceased billionaire, all vying for the inheritance aboard a luxurious 20-storey cruise ship. A murder on board throws the trio into chaos as they become the prime suspects.

The extensive cast also features Shreyas Talpade, Chitrangada Singh, Dino Morea, Soundarya Sharma, Nikitin Dheer, and Akashdeep Sabir. “Housefull 5” is slated for release on June 6th.

This multiple-ending format harks back to the 1985 Hollywood whodunit “Clue,” a model largely abandoned by Western studios. However, Nadiadwala sees potential in this unconventional approach.

Early buzz for the film is significant. According to BookMyShow, over 146,000 users have expressed interest. In Kolkata alone, more than 1,060 tickets were booked within the first hour of advance booking going live on Tuesday. The platform allows users to specifically choose between “Housefull 5A” and “Housefull 5B” when purchasing their tickets.

The “Housefull” journey began in 2010 with the Sajid Khan-directed first film, starring Akshay Kumar, Jiah Khan, Arjun Rampal, Jacqueline Fernandez, Lara Dutta, and Chunky Panday. The sequel, also directed by Sajid Khan, followed in 2012, with “Housefull 3” helmed by Sajid-Farhad in 2016, and Farhad Samji’s “Housefull 4” releasing in 2019.
