Yash Raj Films has officially announced a delay in the release of its much-anticipated action entertainer Alpha, starring Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh. Originally slated for a late 2025 release, the film will now hit theatres on April 17, 2026, owing to extended post-production work, particularly in the visual effects (VFX) department.
The production house emphasized that the decision was made to ensure a visually immersive and high-quality cinematic experience. As the first female-led installment in the YRF Spy Universe, Alpha is expected to feature high-octane action sequences and cutting-edge VFX, which require additional time for refinement.
Directed by Shiv Rawail, the film also features Bobby Deol in a pivotal role. Industry insiders suggest that Alpha will showcase Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in intense, physically demanding roles, marking a significant shift in the portrayal of female protagonists in mainstream Indian espionage thrillers.
YRF’s statement noted that the delay reflects the studio’s commitment to quality and audience expectations. The move has been met with mixed reactions from fans—while some expressed disappointment over the wait, others welcomed the studio’s decision to prioritize production value.
The postponement also strategically positions Alpha in the summer 2026 release window, potentially giving it a stronger box office run without competing against other major year-end releases.
