On November 24, renowned actor Dharmendra passed away in Mumbai. Actor-politician Hema Malini, together with her daughter Esha Deol, ex-husband Bharat Takhtani, Ahana Deol, and spouse Vaibhav Vohra, hosted a separate prayer meet in Delhi on November 27, 2025, following a prayer meet in Mumbai. It took place from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the Dr. Ambedkar International Center in Janpath.
Attendees included Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Home Minister Amit Shah, actor and Lok Sabha MP Kangana Ranaut, Ravi Kishan, and Ranjeet. The location was decorated with white flowers, and seating arrangements were arranged for the dignitaries. Hema Malini says, “I have an association with Dharmendra ji for 57 years, in remembrance of the late superstar. I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with him on the majority of my movies since I first started the film business. Twenty-five of the almost forty-five films we made were huge hits. We were a popular duo.”
“People noticed his new side when he began writing Urdu poetry. Depending on the circumstance, he would speak the Urdu shayaris. He was an excellent writer, so I even advised him to create a book for his admirers. He even made a lot of preparations for it, but it was not possible,” she says sadly. “A personality like Dharmendra’s is rare,” says Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. “Perhaps only once in a lifetime does one get to see an actor like him. We shall always cherish his endearing smile. He had fans all across the world because he was such a tremendous superstar. His films will live on in our memories forever.”
