Ananya Panday’s CTRL gets OTT display date, Vikramaditya Motwane says the film explores whether we are ‘in control of all the digital extensions of our lives’

Vikramaditya Motwane’s cyber thriller CTRL, starring Ananya Panday, is set to arrive on Netflix, the streamer announced on Monday. Produced by Saffron and Andolan Films and also starring Vihaan Samat, the film will start streaming on the platform from October 4.
According to the makers, CTRL is a cutting-edge thriller that will make you rethink your dependence on technology. In the film, Pandey and Samat play the roles of Naila Awasthi and Joe Mascarenhas respectively, a romantic couple who create content together and are loved by their internet audience.
“But what happens when they break? In a world where data is power, how much sharing is too much? How much of your life are you intending to share, and do you slowly lose control in the process? Read the official synopsis.
Vikramaditya Motwane, known for Udaan, Lootera and Trapped, said that with the amount of time people spend on their devices, screen time has now been redefined as screen life.
“The question is, do we really have control over all the digital extensions of our lives, or are we being controlled? That’s the answer CTRL tries to find. For a new-age concept, we not only need artists who live this kind of life, but also a medium like Netflix that is relevant,” Motwane said in a statement.
Producer Nikhil Dwivedi said that the film brings forth a “thought-provoking narrative” in a unique format that will be visible in every frame of this film.
“CTRL is a testament to our promise to tell genre-based stories that thrill and entertain. Vikramaditya Motwane has brilliantly crafted this new age thriller that shocks and fascinate in equal measure. Ananya Panday’s honest portrayal intensifies the drama. We can’t wait for audiences to join us on this exciting journey,” said Ruchika Kapoor Shaikh, Director – Original Films, Netflix India.
