Anil Kapoor Says He Still Asks Wife for Pocket Money, Jokes ‘No One Is My Fan at Home’

Veteran actor Anil Kapoor brought humor and honesty to the trailer launch of his upcoming film Subedaar, where he opened up about family, forgiveness, and his long-standing relationships in the industry.
Directed by Suresh Triveni, the film also stars Mona Singh, Saurabh Shukla, Radhika Madan, Aditya Rawal, and Faisal Malik. The film is set to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
At the event, Anil was asked about collaborating with Triveni, who had earlier declined scripts produced by his daughter Rhea Kapoor. Responding candidly, the actor said he does not believe in holding grudges.
“In our profession, if you have any resentment, channel it into your work. There’s no point in taking it out on people. If someone has hurt you, just focus on your craft. Everything eventually falls into place. Forgive and forget,” he said.
Anil also clarified that he maintains clear boundaries when it comes to his children’s professional decisions. “I never interfere in my children’s work. I didn’t call Suresh. I told Rhea it was her choice. My children are very independent and idealistic,” he added.
In a lighter moment, the actor shared that fame means little within his household. “No one is my fan at home,” he joked. “As I was leaving for the trailer launch, I told my wife I was heading to an event. She asked, ‘Which film?’ She has no idea what’s happening in my professional life. They treat me exactly the same.”
He added with a smile that he sometimes asks his wife for ₹10,000–15,000 in cash before leaving for shoots, underlining the grounded nature of his family life despite decades of stardom.
Anil also spoke about valuing long-term relationships in the film industry, revealing that he remains friends with most filmmakers he has worked with over the years. He even playfully referenced director Indra Kumar while joking about not being part of Dhamaal. 4.
In Subedaar, Anil plays Arjun Maurya, a retired soldier navigating life after service while confronting crime and corruption. The trailer hints at an intense clash with a powerful sand mafia leader, played by Mona Singh, and her volatile brother, portrayed by Aditya Rawal. The story blends action and emotional drama, particularly through Maurya’s bond with his daughter, played by Radhika Madan.
With a mix of action, emotion and social commentary, Subedaar marks another significant chapter in Anil Kapoor’s enduring career.
