Assam Rifles Ex-Servicemen Rally was conducted at Imphal, Manipur on March 7. Approx 450 ex-servicemen from all the districts of the State including World War II veterans, Veer Naris and their dependents attended the event conducted under the theme ‘ We Connect – We Care ’.
A press release by PRO (Defence) stated that the event presided over by the DG Assam Rifles, Lt Gen Sukhdeep Sangwan and Sangeeta Sangwan, president Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association (ARWWA).
Other attendees were Maj Gen Alok Naresh, IG AR (South), Lt Gen K Himalaya Singh (veteran), Lt Gen L Nishikanta Singh (veteran) and other Assam Rifles officials. The veterans were enlightened about various beneficiary schemes including the recruitment rallies, sports quota for recruitment in AR, reservation in various educational institutes/ hostels for their wards and extension of Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme (ECHS). An ‘Open Adalat’ was also conducted by officials of HQ DGAR to register grievances and their redressal. As part of the rally, a medical & dental camp was organized for the attendees. War veterans, Veer Naris & disabled ESM were also felicitated during the event.
