Birthday Special: Celebrating Chiranjeevi, The ‘King of Dance’

Hyderabad, August 22 — As Megastar Chiranjeevi turns 70 today, fans and industry peers across India are celebrating the legendary actor’s unparalleled contribution to cinema, especially his iconic status as the ‘King of Dance’. With a career spanning over four decades, Chiranjeevi has redefined dance in Indian films, blending grace, energy, and innovation across genres and generations.

Recognised by Guinness World Records for performing over 24,000 dance moves in 537 songs across 156 films, Chiranjeevi’s legacy as a dance icon remains unmatched. From introducing breakdance to Telugu cinema in Pasivadi Pranam (1987) to delivering electrifying performances in Gang Leader (1991) and Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (1990), his choreography has consistently set new benchmarks.

On this milestone birthday, tributes poured in from across the film fraternity. Actor Allu Arjun called him the “one and only Mega Star” in a heartfelt message, while Ram Charan shared a touching video from their family celebration, expressing admiration for his father’s enduring charisma and influence. Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan also extended warm wishes, to which Chiranjeevi responded with an emotional note celebrating their bond and shared journey.

Adding to the festivities, the makers of Chiranjeevi’s upcoming socio-fantasy film Vishwambhara released a special birthday glimpse. Directed by Vassishta and produced by UV Creations and Abhishek Agarwal Arts, the film promises to be a pan-Indian spectacle, with music by MM Keeravani and a star-studded cast including Trisha Krishnan, Ashika Ranganath, and Mouni Roy.

Chiranjeevi’s influence extends beyond cinema. Honoured with the Padma Bhushan and Padma Vibhushan for his contributions to the arts, he continues to inspire generations of performers and audiences alike. As fans celebrate his 70th birthday, the enduring image of Chiranjeevi — dancing with unmatched flair and commanding the screen with effortless charm — remains a defining symbol of Telugu cinema’s golden era.
