দীর্ঘ ১৪৫ দিন পর সুশান্তের মৃত্যু তদন্ত সম্পর্কে মুখ খুলল কেন্দ্রীয় তদন্তকারী সংস্থা। সিবিআই জানিয়েছে, তারা গুরুত্ব দিয়েই তদন্তটি করছে এবং ঘটনাটি সবরকমের দিক থেকে খতিয়ে দেখছে। ঘটনার সঙ্গে জড়িত কোনও বিষয়ই ছেড়ে দেওয়া হচ্ছে না। সুশান্তের মৃত্যুর পরে মুম্বই পুলিশ ঘটনাটিকে আত্মহত্যা বলে দাবি করলেও অভিনেতার ভক্তরা দাবি করেন, এটি খুন। এরপরেই তাঁরা সিবিআই তদন্তের দাবিতে সরব হন। প্রয়াত অভিনেতার পরিবারও একই দাবি করেন। কিন্তু সিবিআই ঘটনার তদন্ত ভার নেওয়ার পরেও কোনও সুরাহা হয়নি।
