Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui Review: Twitter loves Ayushmann, Vaani performances, calls the film a must-watch

Filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor’s romantic-drama “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui”, featuring Ayushmann Khurrana and Vaani Kapoor has released in theatres today (July 9). In the film, billed as a “progressive love story”, Khurrana will be seen essaying the role of a cross functional athlete. The film shows the romantic journey of Ayushmann’s character doing heavy lifting in a gym and Vaani, who plays a zumba instructor. The trailer was imbued with dollops of humour and intricate emotions and the same is expected from the film.

One can easily trust Ayushmann Khurrana to bring a novel story each time he’s on the screen. And he doesn’t disappoint this time, too. Fans are loving Ayushmann’s choice. The actor, who is credited with making offbeat content mainstream, stars in this film opposite Vaani Kapoor, who plays a trans woman. The film revolves around the topic of sex change with perfect rib-tickling comedy peppered with love and drama.

“#ChandigarhKareAashiqui was awesome, superb, fantabulous, mind-blowing etc loved performances of #aayushmankhurrana and @Vaaniofficial . She has out done herself in a very complex role, kudos to @Abhishekapoor for choosing this subject & directing it so well (sic),” tweeted a fan. On the other hand, many are appreciating the film’s plot and the director, Abhishek Kapoor. “The biggest plus of #ChandigarhKareAashiqui lies in the fact that #AbhishekKapoor opts for a straightforward, non-melodramatic and to the point approach with subtle humour to tell a rather sensitive and brave subject (sic),” wrote another Twitter user.

Other than Ayushmann and Vani Kapoor, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui also features Abhishek Bajaj, Kanwaljit Singh, Gourav Sharma, Gautam Sharma, Yograj Singh, Aanjjan Srivastav and others. Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui is a romantic film produced by T-Series in collaboration with Guy In The Sky Pictures. The film was earlier scheduled to release in July 2021. However, the makers postponed the release. Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui was one of the first few mainstream Indian films, apart from Akshay Kumar’s Bell Bottom, to have finished filming in two months during the time of the novel coronavirus pandemic.
