Chhaava: Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna Film Leaked Online; Piracy Case Filed

The recently released historical drama “Chhaava,” starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna, has fallen victim to online piracy, prompting the Mumbai Cyber Police to register a formal complaint. This development comes even as the film enjoys significant box office success.

According to reports, an FIR has been filed following the discovery of over 1,800 online links illegally distributing the film. Rajat Rahul Haksar, CEO of August Entertainment, an anti-piracy agency hired by Maddock Films, lodged the complaint.

The Mumbai Police have registered the case at the South Cyber Police Station, citing violations under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Copyright Act, the Cinematograph Act, and the Information Technology Act. Authorities are now working to trace the IP addresses associated with the illegal distribution.

Despite the piracy issue, “Chhaava” has achieved remarkable success at the box office, establishing itself as Vicky Kaushal’s highest-grossing film to date. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar, is based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and also features Akshaye Khanna in a prominent role.

The film’s success has also garnered national attention, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi acknowledging its impact.

The incident highlights the persistent challenge of piracy faced by the film industry, emphasizing the financial and legal ramifications of illegal online distribution. Legal actions such as these are intended to send a strong message against copyright infringement.
