Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth is set to headline Amazon MGM’s upcoming submarine thriller, Subversion. Directed by Patrick Vollrath, the film is described as “Die Hard on a submarine”, following a once-promising Naval commander who is blackmailed into piloting a dangerous vessel carrying illegal cargo across international waters.
The film is backed by Lorenzo di Bonaventura of di Bonaventura Pictures. Hemsworth’s character will find himself in a high-stakes game of cat and mouse, forced to outmaneuver blockades and navigate perilous threats both inside and outside the submarine.
Vollrath, known for his feature debut 7500 starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, has previously been nominated for an Academy Award for his short film Everything Will Be Okay.
Besides Subversion, Hemsworth is also working on another project with Amazon MGM Studios, starring in the thriller Crime 101 alongside Mark Ruffalo, Barry Keoghan, Halle Berry, and Monica Barbaro. He is also set to reprise his fan-favorite Marvel character Thor in the upcoming movie Avengers: Doomsday.
