A crew member working on the upcoming Bollywood film Pati, Patni Aur Woh 2, starring Ayushmann Khurrana and Sara Ali Khan, was allegedly assaulted by local residents during a shoot in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. The incident occurred on August 27 on Thornhill Road, where the production team had cordoned off a section of the road for filming.
The victim, identified as Zoheb Solapurwala, production head of BR Chopra Films, was reportedly attacked after objecting to unauthorized video recording by bystanders. According to line producer Saurabh Tiwari, the altercation began when a local youth attempted to film the shoot without permission. Upon being confronted, the individual—along with two others—allegedly slapped and assaulted Solapurwala.
Following the incident, an FIR was registered at the Civil Lines Police Station on August 28. The main accused, identified as Meraj Ali, was arrested by local authorities. Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (City), Abhijeet Kumar, confirmed the arrest and stated that further investigation is underway to identify other individuals involved.
The FIR includes charges under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including assault and criminal intimidation, as well as provisions under the Information Technology Act for unauthorized recording and distribution of video content.
The shoot, directed by Mudassar Aziz, began on August 15 and is scheduled to continue in Prayagraj until September 11. In response to the incident, additional police personnel have been deployed to ensure the safety of the cast and crew. Authorities also addressed traffic congestion caused by the shoot, which had reportedly contributed to tensions among local residents.
Neither Ayushmann Khurrana nor Sara Ali Khan has issued a public statement regarding the incident. The production team has resumed filming under heightened security measures.
