Delhi High Court Protects Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Personality Rights Against AI Misuse And Unauthorised Products

Bollywood actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on Tuesday (September 9, 2025) urged the Delhi High Court to protect her personality rights and restrain online platforms from illegally using her name, photographs and creating AI-generated pornographic content.

Justice Tejas Karia orally indicated that he would pass an interim order in the matter.

The petition said, “The defendants, including several unknown parties, are creating distasteful videos and photographs of the plaintiff which are sexually explicit by using artificial intelligence and deepfake technology by morphing/superimposing the face of the plaintiff.”

Senior advocate Sandip Sethi, appearing for Ms Rai, said the actress wanted to enforce her publicity and personality rights, pointing out that some completely unreal intimate photographs are being circulated online.

“There cannot be any right in her favour to use my photographs, likenesses or personality. A gentleman is simply collecting money by using my name and face,” Mr Sethi argued.

Mr Sethi also claimed that T-shirts and mugs with his client’s pictures were being sold illegally.
The suit was filed against websites like aishwaryaworld.com, apkpure.com, bollywoodteeshop.com, kashcollectiveco.com, which unauthorisedly sell products with the actress’ name and picture.
