Diljit Dosanjh Adopts 10 Villages, Ammy Virk Commits to Rebuilding 200 Homes Amid Punjab Flood Crisis

In response to the devastating floods that have ravaged Punjab, prominent Punjabi entertainers Diljit Dosanjh and Ammy Virk have stepped forward with significant humanitarian efforts aimed at supporting displaced families and rebuilding affected communities.

The floods, triggered by relentless monsoon rains, have claimed at least 29 lives and displaced over 2.5 lakh residents across 12 districts. Entire villages in regions such as Gurdaspur and Amritsar remain submerged, with thousands lacking access to food, clean water, and shelter.

Actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh has adopted ten of the worst-hit villages in Gurdaspur and Amritsar. His team, in collaboration with local authorities and NGOs, is currently focused on providing immediate relief, including food packets, medical assistance, and potable water. Dosanjh emphasized that the initiative is not limited to short-term aid; long-term plans include rehabilitation and sustainable reconstruction. “Together we can rebuild,” read a statement shared on his social media platforms.

Meanwhile, singer-actor Ammy Virk has pledged to support 200 families who lost their homes in the floods. In an emotional message posted online, Virk stated, “Seeing our people without a roof over their heads has left me devastated. In our small effort to bring comfort and stability, we are adopting 200 houses to support those who have lost everything. This is not just about shelter—it’s about giving hope, dignity, and strength to start again.”

Other celebrities have also joined the relief efforts. Actress Sonam Bajwa announced donations to ground-level rescue organizations and urged her followers to contribute. Actor Sanjay Dutt expressed solidarity via social media, promising to assist in every way possible. Singer Karan Aujla and actor Gippy Grewal have mobilized resources including boats, fodder, and medicines to support affected communities.

The collective response from the Punjabi entertainment industry has been widely praised, offering a beacon of hope amid one of the region’s worst natural disasters in decades. Relief operations continue across the state, with calls for more public and private support to accelerate recovery and rehabilitation.
