ZEE5 has released the trailer for its upcoming original film, ‘Detective Sherdil,’ a murder mystery led by actor-singer Diljit Dosanjh. He stars as an eccentric sleuth tasked with solving a complex case filled with secrets, betrayals, and high-stakes motives.
The whodunit, set against the scenic backdrop of Budapest, marks the directorial debut of Ravi Chhabriya, known for his assistant director work on films like ‘Sultan,’ ‘Bharat,’ and ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ with Ali Abbas Zafar. ‘Detective Sherdil’ is set to premiere on ZEE5 on June 20.
The film boasts a strong ensemble cast, including Diana Penty, Boman Irani, Ratna Pathak Shah, Chunky Panday, Sumeet Vyas, Banita Sandhu, and Kashmira Irani.
The plot of ‘Detective Sherdil’ kicks off with the mysterious murder of a flamboyant billionaire, played by Boman Irani. What initially seems like a hate crime quickly evolves into a far more intricate investigation. Enter Detective Sherdil, portrayed by Dosanjh, an “unorthodox investigator with a razor-sharp mind and unconventional methods,” as described in the official logline.
Director Ravi Chhabriya expressed his excitement, stating, “The trailer of ‘Detective Sherdil’ is just the beginning; there’s a whole lot more madness waiting to unfold.” He added that Diljit Dosanjh was the perfect fit for the role, bringing “charm, wit, and swagger” to the character.
Dosanjh shared his enjoyment in taking on the unique role. “Playing Detective Sherdil has been fun for me. The character’s quirks and attitude are something I have tried differently. Hope audiences enjoy this character and the film,” he remarked.
‘Detective Sherdil’ is presented by Ali Abbas Zafar’s AAZ Films and Offside Entertainment, and is a Maurya Entertainment Production. The script was penned by Chhabriya, Zafar, and Sagar Bajaj.
