Mumbai, 10 September 2025 — Vishesh Films has officially confirmed that actress Disha Patani will star opposite Emraan Hashmi in the much-anticipated sequel to the 2007 cult romantic drama Awarapan. Titled Awarapan 2, the film will be directed by Nitin Kakkar, taking over from Mohit Suri, who helmed the original.

The sequel retains the emotional depth and gangster backdrop of the first installment, with Emraan Hashmi reprising his role as Shivam Pandit. According to sources close to the production, the narrative will feature “2x the romance and 2x the emotions,” expanding the world of Awarapan while preserving its core spirit.

Disha Patani, known for her performances in MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, Baaghi 2, and Radhe, reportedly accepted the role immediately after hearing the script. Insiders reveal that she was deeply moved by the emotional arc of her character, although specific details about her role remain undisclosed.

The film’s music, a hallmark of the original, is set to play a pivotal role once again. The team is currently working on a romantic soundtrack, with discussions underway to revive some of the iconic melodies from the first film.

Production is scheduled to begin by late September or early October 2025, with filming expected to wrap by January 2026. Awarapan 2 is slated for a theatrical release in Summer 2026.

The announcement has generated significant buzz among fans of the original film, which, despite a modest box office performance, gained cult status over the years for its poignant storytelling and memorable music. With a fresh pairing and a renewed creative vision, Awarapan 2 aims to deliver a compelling cinematic experience that honors its legacy while charting new emotional territory.
