Malayalam superstar Mohanlal has done it again. The highly anticipated crime thriller Drishyam 3 has officially crossed the monumental ₹200-crore milestone at the global box office within its first week of release. Celebrating the achievement, Mohanlal took to social media to express his gratitude to fans for their unwavering support of his iconic character, Georgekutty, and his family.
Directed by Jeethu Joseph, the film is witnessing exceptional momentum in theatres. According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Drishyam 3 earned ₹6.65 crore nett in India on its first Wednesday alone, marking a steady increase from its Tuesday collections. By day seven, the thriller was screened across more than 4,700 shows, driving its total domestic nett collection to a stellar ₹75.30 crore.
Unsurprisingly, the Malayalam version remains the primary driver of this success, commanding over 40% theatre occupancy and pulling in ₹5.85 crore nett on Wednesday. The film’s localized Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada versions also contributed to the steady weekday mid-week numbers. Internationally, the film continues to be a powerhouse, securing an impressive overseas gross of ₹95.70 crore.
In stark contrast, Bollywood’s latest romantic drama, Chand Mera Dil, continues to struggle during its opening week. Starring Ananya Panday and Lakshya, the Vivek Soni directorial managed only ₹1.90 crore on its sixth day. Despite being backed by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, the film’s total domestic nett stands at a modest ₹17.25 crore, leaving Drishyam 3 to rule the box office charts entirely undisputed.
