Emmy Awards 2025: ‘Severance’, ‘Adolescence’, and ‘The White Lotus’ Lead the Pack with Major Nominations

Los Angeles, July 15, 2025 — The Television Academy unveiled the nominations for the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards on Tuesday, spotlighting a diverse slate of returning favorites and breakout series. Apple TV+’s psychological thriller Severance emerged as the frontrunner, securing 27 nominations, including Outstanding Drama Series, Lead Actor (Adam Scott), Lead Actress (Britt Lower), and multiple supporting and technical categories.

Netflix’s Adolescence, a British crime drama that sparked national conversations around online safety, earned 13 nominations, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. Notably, 15-year-old Owen Cooper received a nod for Outstanding Supporting Actor, making him one of the youngest nominees in Emmy history. Co-star Stephen Graham also landed a nomination for Lead Actor in the same category.

Other top contenders include The Penguin (24 nominations), The Studio (23), The White Lotus (23), and The Bear (13). HBO Max led the network tally with 142 nominations across its slate, including The Last of Us, Hacks, and Slow Horses.

The nominations were announced live by actors Harvey Guillén and Brenda Song at the Television Academy’s Wolf Theater in Los Angeles. This year’s ceremony will be hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze and is scheduled to take place on September 14, 2025, at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, airing live on CBS and streaming via Paramount+.

In the drama category, Severance will compete against Andor, The Pitt, The White Lotus, and others. Comedy series nominees include Abbott Elementary, The Bear, Shrinking, and What We Do in the Shadows. The limited series category features Adolescence, Black Mirror, Dying for Sex, Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story, and The Penguin.

The Creative Arts Emmy Awards will precede the main event, taking place on September 6 and 7, recognizing achievements in technical and behind-the-scenes categories.
