Emmy Awards 2025: ‘The Studio’ Dominates, Tramell Tillman and Owen Cooper Make History

Los Angeles, September 15 — The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards concluded with landmark wins and historic moments, celebrating excellence across television’s most acclaimed series and performances. Held at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles and hosted by comedian Nate Bargatze, the ceremony spotlighted both emerging talent and industry veterans.

Apple TV+’s The Studio emerged as the biggest winner of the night, securing a record-breaking 13 awards from 23 nominations — the most ever for a comedy series at the Emmys. The show earned top honors including Outstanding Comedy Series, Lead Actor (Seth Rogen), Supporting Actor (Bryan Cranston), and Directing and Writing accolades for Rogen and his creative team.

In a historic moment, Tramell Tillman became the first Black actor to win Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for his role as Seth Milchick in Severance. Tillman’s win marks a significant milestone in Emmy history, breaking a decades-long barrier in the category established in 1970.

Equally groundbreaking was 15-year-old Owen Cooper’s win for Adolescence, making him the youngest male actor ever to receive an Emmy. Cooper won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie, joining a rare lineage of youthful Emmy recipients. His co-stars Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty also won in their respective categories, contributing to the show’s total of eight awards.

Other major winners included The Pitt, which took home Outstanding Drama Series and Lead Actor (Noah Wyle), and The Penguin, which earned nine awards including Lead Actress in a Limited Series (Cristin Milioti). Severance continued its strong showing with wins for Lead Actress (Britt Lower), Supporting Actress (Merritt Wever), and multiple technical categories.

In variety and talk programming, Last Week Tonight with John Oliver retained its dominance, winning Outstanding Scripted Variety Series. The Traitors was named Outstanding Reality Competition Program, while The Late Show with Stephen Colbert won Outstanding Talk Series.

The ceremony also featured poignant moments of political and cultural reflection, with attendees expressing solidarity on global issues and celebrating diversity in storytelling. The Emmy Awards 2025 are available for streaming in India via JioHotstar.

This year’s Emmys not only honored creative excellence but also marked a generational and cultural shift, with young talent and underrepresented voices taking center stage.
