Fardeen Khan opens up about quitting alcohol, seeks professional help to quit alcohol: ‘I started drinking at a young age, it was hampering my life’

Fardeen Khan, who took a 14-year break from acting, shared that he quit drinking during the pandemic as it was hampering his life.

After taking a long break from films, Fardeen Khan decided to resume his acting career during the second lockdown at the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic. In a recent interaction, the actor recalled that although he was keen to make a comeback to films, he did not know where to begin as he had been away from the industry for so long. The challenge was that he had gained some weight during this time and weighed 102 kg.

Talking about this to Cyrus Broacha on his YouTube channel, he said, “I knew I had to get into a certain shape. I weighed 102 or 103 kg at my heaviest and I had no muscles on my body – just body fat.” Fardeen admitted that he worked on himself in an effort to get healthy.

He said, “Last week I weighed 78 kg. I have lost 25 kg.” He then spoke about his alcohol addiction and revealed that he quit drinking in 2020 and took professional help to do so, as the habit of drinking started interfering with his life. “I was at a stage where I wasn’t feeling like myself. I got sober in 2020 and I quit drinking immediately.

I needed to stop it, it was hampering my life. I took professional help to stop it and it was the best decision of my life. I started drinking at a very young age, so this was the first time the brain fog cleared.” In an earlier interaction, Fardeen had shared that he had taken a 14-year-long break from acting to focus on family.

After becoming a father to a daughter and a son, the actor decided to extend his break to spend more time with his kids. Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, he said, “We were facing challenges in having children and that’s when we decided to take the IVF route. So I needed to take some time off. It shouldn’t have been this long.

I thought just a few years… everything will be fine, but things didn’t turn out that way. Then, when my daughter was born, my heart melted and I thought, let’s spend some time with her.”

Apart from Heeramandi, Fardeen has also featured in films like Khel Khel Mein, Visfot and the recently released Housefull 5. He also has the Kannada film The Devil in the pipeline.
