Former cricketer Dinesh Karthik has praised Mari Selvaraj’s Bison Kaalamaadan after its OTT debut, calling it a powerful and hard-hitting film.

Mari Selvaraj’s Bison Kaalamaadan, starring Dhruv Vikram, continues to make waves after its successful theatrical run, now finding renewed acclaim on Netflix. The film, which grossed over ₹75 crore worldwide, has been lauded for its intense storytelling and social commentary.

The latest appreciation comes from former India cricketer Dinesh Karthik, who took to X to share his admiration. He described Mari Selvaraj as “an exceptional storyteller” and praised the film’s emotional depth and social intensity. Karthik also highlighted Dhruv Vikram’s performance, noting the actor’s dedication and physical transformation for the role. “Dhruv must have worked his backside off to do it so realistically,” he wrote, adding that the supporting cast delivered strong performances as well.

Directed by Mari Selvaraj, Bison Kaalamaadan explores themes of caste identity, resilience, and marginalized voices, continuing the director’s signature style seen in his earlier works Pariyerum Perumal and Karnan. The film blends sports drama with layered social narratives, making it both entertaining and thought-provoking.

The OTT release has amplified its reach, drawing new audiences and sustaining its momentum. Industry observers note that endorsements from celebrities like Rajinikanth, Mani Ratnam, Udhayanidhi Stalin, and now Dinesh Karthik, have further boosted the film’s cultural impact.
