Govind Vasantha Makes Acting Debut in Malayalam Film ‘Vala’

Renowned composer Govind Vasantha, celebrated for his emotionally resonant scores in films like 96, Blue Star, and 100 Days of Love, is set to make his full-fledged acting debut in the upcoming Malayalam film Vala. The film was officially unveiled on July 26 with a striking title poster, generating buzz across the industry for its unique premise and ensemble cast.

Directed by Muhashin—known for Kadina Kadoramee Andakadakam—and penned by acclaimed screenwriter Harshad (Unda, Puzhu, Virus), Vala promises a genre-blending narrative that intertwines mystery and humor around a seemingly simple object: a bangle. The filmmakers describe it as a story where “small things hold big secrets,” hinting at emotional depth beneath its whimsical surface.

Govind Vasantha, who has previously made cameo appearances in Solo and Seethakathi, will not only act but also compose the film’s soundtrack. His collaboration with director Muhashin marks a reunion following their successful work on Kadina Kadoramee Andakadakam. The music rights have been acquired by Think Music, ensuring a robust audio release to complement the film’s visual storytelling.

The cast features a mix of seasoned and emerging talent, including Vijayaraghavan, Shanthi Krishna, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Lukman Avaran, Raveena Ravi, and Sheethal Joseph. Supporting roles will be portrayed by Abu Salim, Arjun Radhakrishnan, Navas Vallikunnu, Shafi Kollam, Yusuf Bhai (Perfumer), and Gokulan.

Behind the scenes, cinematography is helmed by Afnas V, editing by Siddique P Hyder, and production design by Arshad Nakkoth. Publicity designs are managed by Yellow Tooths, with marketing and communications led by Dr. Sangeetha Janachandran of Stories Social.

Produced by Fairbay Films, Vala also marks the company’s debut in Malayalam cinema. The producers emphasized their commitment to original storytelling, stating, “It’s humorous, rooted, and quietly emotional—everything we believe a good film should be”.

With Govind Vasantha’s dual contribution and a compelling creative team, Vala is poised to be a standout entry in Malayalam cinema’s evolving landscape.
