Govinda express why he was always late on sets, recalls how Dilip Kumar forced him to quit 25 films: ‘Film waale mujhe maar dete’

Govinda revealed that at one point he had 49 films on the floor, and he would work 16 days in a row. He said that he was an ‘uneducated person’ who was being exploited.
While many filmmakers have spoken in detail about Govinda coming late on sets, this time the actor himself opened up about his habit and revealed why he comes late. In a recent interaction, Govinda admitted that he would not go to the sets until he found the rhythm of his character.
He also revealed that at one point he had 49 films on the floor, and he would work 16 days in a row. However, it was Dilip Kumar who inspired him to not overwork and maintain a work-life balance.
Talking to Mukesh Khanna on his YouTube channel, Govinda said, “I never used to reach the sets on time. I was a fan of Dilip Kumar sahab. I didn’t believe in coming late. I used to first set my rhythm right. I wouldn’t go to the sets until my sur taal was set.”
Sharing his conversation with Dilip Kumar and how he inspired him to stay calm, he said, “I used to have 40-49 films on the floor. I used to go from one set to another. I got into the hands of the film people, an illiterate man, if I hadn’t met Dilip Kumar sahab, these people would have killed me. They refused me for 25 films. I asked Dilip Kumar sahab, ‘I have to return this money.’
He told me, “I will lend you this money, but leave these films.” Govinda recalled that his financier told him, “Are you going wild? You have just overcome poverty.” Govinda revealed that Dilip Kumar was the first person who really cared for him and that is why he asked him to leave some films.
He said, “I used to work for 16 days continuously.” Govinda recalled that sometimes he would get so tired that he would sleep for 1.5 days continuously.
