Gujarat to Host 70th Filmfare Awards for Second Year in a Row

Ahmedabad, August 28 — The Government of Gujarat, in collaboration with The Times Group, has officially announced that the 70th Filmfare Awards will be hosted in the state for the second consecutive year. The announcement was made during a high-profile press conference in Ahmedabad, attended by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Tourism Minister Mulubhai Bera, filmmaker Karan Johar, actor Vikrant Massey, and senior executives from The Times Group and Worldwide Media Pvt Ltd.

The event marks a renewed partnership between the Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd (TCGL) and Worldwide Media Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of The Times Group. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by TCGL Commissioner and Managing Director Prabhav Joshi and Rohit Gopakumar, Director of Worldwide Media and CEO of ZENL, BCCL TV & Digital Network.

The decision to host the prestigious awards ceremony in Gujarat aligns with the state’s Cinematic Tourism Policy, launched in September 2022, which aims to position Gujarat as a premier destination for film and cultural events. The initiative is expected to boost tourism, showcase Gujarat’s rich cultural heritage, and strengthen its growing film infrastructure.

Vineet Jain, Managing Director of The Times Group, emphasized the significance of the collaboration, stating, “For 70 years, Filmfare has celebrated the best of Indian cinema. Hosting the awards in Gujarat for the second year in a row is a reflection of the strong partnership we share and the momentum we are building together”.

Actor Vikrant Massey, who received his first Filmfare Award in GIFT City, Ahmedabad last year, expressed his enthusiasm for the event returning to Gujarat. “This land opens its arms to every story. Filmfare is a symbol of recognition and responsibility, and this partnership will only strengthen the creative ecosystem,” he said during the press meet.

The 70th Filmfare Awards will bring together leading actors, directors, producers, and technicians from across the Indian film industry for a night of glamour, artistry, and celebration. The ceremony will also spotlight Gujarat’s vibrant identity—blending Bollywood’s dazzle with the state’s cultural spirit.

Further details regarding the date, venue, and performances are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
