After the huge success of Jailer at the box office, the makers have now announced its sequel. On the occasion of Makar Sankranti, the makers of Jailer 2 starring Rajinikanth announced an interesting, powerful teaser for the film directed by Nelson, which created a lot of buzz among the audience.
On Tuesday, Sun Pictures announced an action-packed teaser for Jailer 2 on social media. In the teaser video, Anirudh Ravichander and director Nelson are seen discussing a new script while relaxing. However, their relaxing moment is interrupted by a few people getting shot or axed. Slowly, Rajinikanth enters the frame with a gun in one hand, and it is revealed that he is behind the bloodshed. The teaser ends with the superstar dropping bombs on his enemies and confirming his reign as Tiger Muthuvel Pandian.
The director expressed his gratitude towards Rajinikanth and announced the film on X with the caption, “So happy to announce my next film #Jailer2 with the one and only #Superstar #Thalaivar @rajinikanth sir and my favourite @sunpictures #Kalanithimaran sir and my dearest friend @anirudhofficial and thank you to my team @KVijayKartik @Nirmalcuts @KiranDrk #pallavisingh #chethan @kabilanchelliah #suren (sic).”
The teaser announcement has set social media on fire. One comment read, “Super Star Rajinikanth sir 1000 crores loading.” Another comment said, “Rajinikanth’s screen presence + Nelson’s direction + Anirudh’s BGM = Massive destruction in theatres.” Another wrote, “Every frame gives goosebumps.”
Success of Jailer
Released in 2023, Jailer was a huge box office success. Directed by Nelson, the film starred Rajinikanth in the lead role, along with Vinayakan, Ramya Krishnan, Tamannaah Bhatia, Vasanth Ravi, Mirna Menon, Yogi Babu and Sunil in supporting roles. Mohanlal, Shiva Rajkumar and Jackie Shroff made guest appearances. The film grossed ₹604.5 crore worldwide and ₹348.55 crore in India. Now, expectations are even higher from Jailer 2.
