Javed Akhtar, a seasoned lyricist and screenwriter, will get an honorary degree from SOAS University of London.
Akhtar will be awarded a Doctor of Literature (DLit) (honoris causa) in honour of his enormous contributions to Indian film as a poet, lyricist, screenwriter, and activist, according to a press statement.
The 78-year-old veteran stated in the statement, “I am profoundly honoured since the University of London is one of the most highly renowned universities in the world, and the recognition makes me stand humbled.
