Jisshu Sengupta on his autobiography: It’s time certain stories needed to be told

There was a time when his mother used to light a candle in absence of electricity and serve him food. For Jisshu Sengupta, that was sort of a ‘candle-lit dinner’. From there, the dashing Tolly actor now owns a house in Lake Gardens and is in high demand in not one, but three film industries. Yes, Jisshu has traveled a long way winning hearts with powerful performances.
Now, his autobiography is coming out to share his stories covering the showbiz journey. If all goes according to plan, a popular publishing house in Kolkata will release Jisshu’s autobiography at the 2022 book fair. The book has been titled ‘Abohoman…Journey So Far’.

Speaking about the autobiography, the dashing actor says he was contemplating on it during the lockdown. “I felt it was time certain stories needed to be told. It’s imperative that I document my life’s experiences through a memoir for the future crop of actors emerging from Bengal. There is a lot that goes into the rise and fall of an actor and I feel the world needs to know the good, the bad and the ugly. Audiences tend to acknowledge the glitzy facets of the profession and seldom does one understand or appreciate the struggle,” Jisshu shares with Etimes during an exclusive chat.
He further adds: “During my initial days of struggle, I could easily have been a victim of depression and could have suffered from mental health issues but I chose to be different. My autobiography will cover my journey in showbiz. There will be some undisclosed anecdotes, insights on life and my learnings over the years, which people will enjoy reading.”
