John Lithgow Excited for Dumbledore Role in ‘Harry Potter’ Series

Actor John Lithgow has been cast as Albus Dumbledore in the upcoming Harry Potter TV series, based on J.K. Rowling’s novels. While Lithgow is widely respected for his performances in Interstellar and The Crown, some fans have expressed disappointment over his casting, arguing that an American actor should not portray the iconic English wizard.

Lithgow addressed the backlash, acknowledging that he is not British but reminding fans that he successfully played Winston Churchill in The Crown. He assured audiences that he would do his best in the role, stating, “I know there were plenty of people appalled that an American should be hired to play the ultimate English wizard. But, I will do my best.”

The series, produced by Max, will feature a fresh cast, including Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid, Luke Thallon as Quirinus Quirrell, and Paul Whitehouse as Argus Filch.
