Jr NTR and Trivikram Srinivas Set to Begin Mythological Epic ‘Muruga’ in Late 2026

Hyderabad, July 15, 2025 — Acclaimed actor Jr NTR and celebrated director Trivikram Srinivas are gearing up for a grand mythological film titled Muruga, with production expected to commence in the second half of 2026. The announcement was confirmed by producer S. Naga Vamsi, who revealed that pre-production is already underway and the team is aiming for a launch that surpasses recent cinematic spectacles.

The film, reportedly based on Lord Karthikeya—also known as Muruga or Skanda—is set to be a high-budget venture rich in visual effects and spiritual depth. Jr NTR will portray the divine warrior deity, a role that demands intense physical and emotional preparation. The actor was recently spotted at Mumbai airport holding a copy of Muruga: The Lord of War, The God of Wisdom by Anand Balasubramanian, further fueling speculation about the film’s thematic direction.

Producer Naga Vamsi stated that the team had initially planned to unveil the project earlier, but chose to delay the announcement after witnessing the grandeur of Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana promo. “We want our film to generate greater buzz. Working with Trivikram garu and Jr NTR garu on a highly anticipated mythological drama gives us immense excitement, but we’re taking it slow and one step at a time,” Vamsi said.

Trivikram Srinivas is currently wrapping up another project with Venkatesh Daggubati, after which full-scale production on Muruga will begin. The film is expected to release in 2028, positioning itself as a landmark entry in Indian mythological cinema.

Meanwhile, Jr NTR is awaiting the release of War 2, co-starring Hrithik Roshan, scheduled to hit theatres on August 14, 2025. His collaboration with Trivikram marks a return to mythological storytelling, a genre that holds deep cultural resonance in Telugu cinema.
