K-Pop Demon Hunters’ ‘Golden’ Breaks BTS’s ‘Dynamite’ Record on Billboard Hot 100

Netflix’s animated musical film K-Pop Demon Hunters has made history with its breakout track “Golden,” which has now topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart for four consecutive weeks, surpassing BTS’s 2020 hit “Dynamite” that held the No. 1 spot for three weeks.

Performed by the fictional girl group HUNTR/X—voiced by artists EJAE, Audrey Nuna, and REI AMI—the song debuted modestly at No. 81 before steadily climbing to the top. “Golden” has become only the second K-pop track to spend at least four weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, trailing only BTS’s “Butter,” which led for ten weeks.

Between August 29 and September 4, “Golden” recorded 34.5 million official streams, 22.1 million radio airplay impressions, and 9,000 digital downloads in the U.S. alone. It also maintained its No. 1 position on the Streaming Songs chart for a seventh week and climbed on the Radio Songs tally from No. 29 to No. 24.

The success of “Golden” marks a milestone for Korean representation in Western music charts, with HUNTR/X becoming the first female K-pop lead vocalists to top the Billboard Hot 100. The film’s soundtrack is also rewriting Billboard history: three other tracks—“Your Idol,” “Soda Pop,” and “How It’s Done”—have simultaneously entered the Hot 100 Top 10, ranking at No. 4, No. 5, and No. 9 respectively. This is the first time in the chart’s 67-year history that four songs from a single soundtrack have achieved this feat.
K-Pop Demon Hunters follows the story of three global pop idols—Rumi, Mira, and Zoey—who lead double lives as adored performers by day and secret demon slayers by night. Their music, rooted in ancient Korean traditions, serves as a magical tool to combat evil forces threatening humanity.
The film’s cultural impact and chart-topping success have sparked widespread admiration among fans and industry observers, positioning K-Pop Demon Hunters as a landmark moment in the global rise of K-pop and animated musical storytelling.
