Kajol Returns in a Fierce New Avatar in ‘The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon and Dhoka’ Season 2

Mumbai, August 23 — Acclaimed actress Kajol is set to reprise her role as Noyonika Sengupta in the second season of the legal drama The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon and Dhoka, premiering September 19 on JioCinema. The series, an Indian adaptation of the American show The Good Wife, returns with heightened stakes, emotional intensity, and a gripping narrative that blends courtroom drama with personal turmoil.

Directed by Umesh Bist and produced by Banijay Asia, Season 2 picks up after the explosive events of the first season, where Noyonika’s husband, Rajiv Sengupta (played by Jisshu Sengupta), was embroiled in a sex scandal and arrested for corruption. The new season opens with Noyonika demanding a divorce, as Rajiv’s political ambitions threaten to further destabilize their family.

The plot intensifies when Rajiv’s political rival targets his family, resulting in a serious accident involving one of their children. This incident propels Noyonika into a fierce maternal role, echoing Kajol’s acclaimed performance in Maa, as she fights to protect her children while navigating complex legal battles.

Kajol’s portrayal of Noyonika is expected to be more assertive and emotionally layered this season. At the trailer launch event, she appeared alongside co-stars Jisshu Sengupta and Kubbra Sait, praising Sait’s resilience and positivity both on and off screen. Kajol’s performance is complemented by a strong ensemble cast including Alyy Khan, Sheeba Chaddha, Shruti Bisht, Sonali Kulkarni, Gaurav Pandey, and Karanvir Sharma.

The trailer, released on August 22, showcases Noyonika confronting powerful political figures, taking on high-stakes legal cases, and wrestling with betrayal and forgiveness. The series promises to delve deeper into themes of justice, power, and personal sacrifice.

The Trial: Pyaar Kaanoon and Dhoka Season 2 is poised to be a compelling continuation of Kajol’s OTT journey, offering audiences a blend of legal intrigue and emotional depth. With its premiere slated for September 19, the show is expected to be a marquee release for JioCinema this fall.
