Kangana Ranaut says people cautioned Dhaakad director about working with her: ‘He didn’t give up on me’

Kangana Ranaut says the director of her upcoming film Dhakaad will get incredulous and surprised questions as to why she wants to work with her. The first-time director, however, stuck to his guns, the actor said. Recently, the actor revealed this in a press conference during the merchandising dhaka in the national capital.

At a press convention for Dhaka in Delhi, Rajneesh was asked about the journey of working with Kangana. After she responded, Kangana added, “Many people suggested to her ‘Would you work with Kangana in your first film?’ Kiyonki mera toh naam badnam kar ke rakhah hua hai (because my film is ruined). But after all that he said I will do this film with Kangana alone. For the first time, it was a very big call. He didn’t pay me.”

Kangana has often clashed with countless members of the film industry, especially actors like filmmaker Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt. The outspoken actor is said to be rather blunt in her views on the enterprise, and she believes it’s something that hasn’t won over many of her friends there.

Dhaakad is an undercover agent action-thriller starring Kangana as a super-spy named Agent Agni. This is Rajneesh’s first feature film as a director. The film also stars Arjun Rampal and Divya Dutt. Talking about how her entire career was pivotal for this role, Kangana said, “Whether I am enjoying a female who fights a snatcher trying to steal her bag (in Queen), a mother who’s making an attempt to get her profession again on song (in Panga), a female who’s fighting mental fitness problems (in Judgementall Hai Kya) or a freedom fighter (in Manikarnika)–all these ladies are dhaakad (bold).”

Dhakaad is releasing in theaters on May 20. Recently, Salman Khan shared the trailer of the movie on his Instagram feed with the caption, “Wishing the crew the best of #Dhakaad!” He tagged Kangana and her co-star Arjun Rampal. Kangana shared Salman’s submission on her Instagram Stories and thanked the actor. She wrote, “Thank you my Dabangg hero (fire emoji)…heart of gold,” before adding, “I will never again say that I am alone in this industry…thank you from the entire Dhaakad team.”
