Kangana Ranaut’s plea a delay tactic in defamation complaint: Javed Akhtar

Lyricist Javed Akhtar has told the Bombay High Court that actor Kangana Ranaut’s plea to stay the defamation case filed against him is an attempt to delay the process. He requested the HC to dismiss her plea.
Akhtar had filed a complaint against Ranaut, one of them angry over her comments on a news channel about a 2016 meeting.

Ranaut filed a cross-complaint against him. The actor’s plea said that both charges should be tried together to avoid conflicting verdicts. A bench headed by Justice Revati Mohite-Dere on Tuesday directed the High Court registry to verify whether the responsibility of hearing such matters rests with a single bench or a division bench.
