Actor Karan Singh Grover opened up about his daughter’s heart surgery and said it was one of the toughest experiences of his life. In a new interview, Karan talked about the open heart surgery that Devi underwent when she was just three months old, after it was discovered that she had two holes in her heart.
When asked about the difficulties he has faced in his life, Karan told Dainik Bhaskar, “Something or the other keeps happening. I am very lucky that nothing very bad has happened in my life. But there was a time when we had to face a big problem regarding our daughter. That time was very difficult for us. My daughter had a serious health problem and it is difficult to put into words what she had to go through during that time.
He further said that, “My daughter is a true fighter.
Bipasha had talked about Devi’s diagnosis in a conversation with fellow actor Neha Dhupia in 2023. “Karan was a mess, and I even had to take him out of the ICU sometimes. When I first saw her in the ICU with all the monitors and the dressing bandage across her chest, she was lying there like a hero. Our goddess is brave and very strong,” he said through tears.
He said doctors told him about Devi’s condition on the 3rd day after her birth, and said it was likely that the holes would close with time. But he advised Bipasha and Karan to keep getting regular scans to know if there is any progress. When no attention was paid, it was decided that Devi would have to undergo surgery. “Devi’s operation was very successful and I never had any doubts about it. But for the six hours she was in OT, it was as if my life had stopped,” she had said.
Karan Singh Grover says that after the open heart surgery, daughter Devi was left with a scar from her chest to her stomach: ‘What were I and Bipasha doing though…’
