Chennai, October 8, 2025 — Actor Karthi’s much-anticipated Tamil film Vaa Vaathiyaar has officially locked its release date, with the makers announcing that the film will hit theatres on December 20, 2025. Directed by acclaimed filmmaker M. Muthaiah, the film marks a return to the rural action genre that has been a signature for both the actor and director.
Produced by Studio Green, Vaa Vaathiyaar features Karthi in a rugged, authoritative role, reportedly portraying a village teacher who becomes a voice of resistance against systemic injustice. The film is expected to blend social commentary with high-octane action, set against the backdrop of Tamil Nadu’s heartland.
The announcement was made via social media, accompanied by a new poster featuring Karthi in a commanding pose, dressed in traditional attire with a stern expression. The poster also confirmed the release date and hinted at the film’s intense tone.
The supporting cast includes veteran actor Rajkiran, actress Aditi Shankar, and comedian Soori, with music composed by G.V. Prakash Kumar. Cinematography is handled by R. Velraj, while editing is by Praveen K.L.
Vaa Vaathiyaar is Karthi’s third release of the year, following the success of Japan and Sardar 2. Industry analysts expect the film to perform strongly at the box office, especially given its festive release window and the actor’s growing popularity across South India.
Advance bookings are expected to open in early December, with promotional events and trailer launches scheduled in the coming weeks.
