In the latest edition of Screen Live, Kartik Aaryan spoke about how Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3’s ‘Mere Dholna’ sequence turned out to be one of the most famous sequences of all time and how it became the genesis of the third part.
It wouldn’t be wrong to say that Kartik Aaryan had a pretty interesting 2024. Even though Kabir Khan’s Chandu Champion didn’t do much at the box-office, Kartik’s performance was consistently praised and it established him as a star who can act. Nevertheless, he ended the year by arresting a sort of decline at the Hindi box office with Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, which became the most successful film of his career.
After clashing with the power-packed and starrer Singham Again at the box office, Kartik’s Bigg Boss 3 held its own and became one of the highest grossing Hindi films of 2024. The highlight of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 is undoubtedly Kartik’s brilliant performance in the final act. During the latest edition of Screen Live, Kartik revealed how the now-iconic sequence came into existence.
Revealing how this part was the genesis of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Kartik said, “Right after the success of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, I was told the one-liner of the third part, which was basically the climax part. I was really excited about the idea. In fact, the whole film was written around this sequence.” Talking about how he never felt that the scene could be misrepresented, Kartik credited his trust in the team. “I knew the team would handle the parts carefully. I knew it would be cinematically rich, but not look like a caricature.”
Calling the sequence the emotional core of Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, Kartik Aaryan revealed that the audience stayed hooked till that crucial moment and were confident of the twist. “Many were not expecting that twist, right? So, we embraced the idea and started the journey from that point,” Kartik said. He further added, “I am glad that people are connecting their stories to Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. People are talking about it, discussing their connection with the story, etc…”
The scene, which showed him as a transgender character, became a significant moment in his career as well. “It was the first time I was dancing like that. The song, sung by Sonu Nigam ji, also brought a lot of seriousness to the film. Actually, we shot more dance sequences for the song, but we had to leave out a lot of them. Of course, with Vidya Balan and Madhuri Dixit, it was a huge cinematic moment for me as an actor as well. It was magical.” On the work front, Kartik Aaryan is all set to play the lead role in the successful franchise Aashiqui alongside Rahul Roy and Aditya Roy Kapur. He will play the lead role in Aashiqui 3, which will be directed by Anurag Basu. Apart from this, he also has ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Teri Tu Mera’.
