Akshay Kumar’s latest film, Kesari Chapter 2, has made a strong start at the box office, collecting ₹29.62 crore in its opening weekend.

The film, directed by Karan Singh Tyagi, also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday. It was released on April 18 and is a follow-up to Kumar’s 2019 hit Kesari. The movie explores an untold chapter of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, focusing on lawyer C Sankaran Nair’s legal battle against the British Empire in the 1920s.

Production banner Dharma Productions shared the box office collection on its social media pages, revealing a day-wise breakdown:

  • ₹7.84 crore on its first day
  • ₹10.08 crore on the second day
  • ₹11.70 crore on the third day

The film is based on the book The Case That Shook the Empire by Nair’s great-grandson Raghu Palat and his wife Pushpa Palat. It details the 1924 defamation trial in which Michael O’Dwyer, former Lieutenant Governor of Punjab and the architect of the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, sued Nair for criticizing British atrocities in Punjab.
