Sikandar Kher opened up about his relationship with his ‘lifelong father’ Anupam Kher and said that they like to give each other space, which he called their love language.
Actress Kiran Kher’s son Sikandar Kher grew up with his stepfather Anupam Kher even though his biological father was Gautam Berry. In a recent interview, when Sikandar was asked about his father, the actor said that he had two fathers but none of them were ever present in his life.
He shared that while Kiran and Gautam were going through their divorce, he was living with his mother and Anupam, whom he addressed as his “lifelong father”. He also said that the love language between him and Anupam is “giving each other space”.
Speaking on YouTube channel Tape A Tale, when Sikandar was asked about his father, he said, “Two. I had two fathers. My biological father and then my father for life.
Gautam is my biological father, who passed away 11 years ago and Anupam is Anupam papa, who has always been my father.” He then shared that when Anupam and Kiran married each other in 1985, Anupam was an upcoming actor and was working all the time, so he didn’t spend much time with him.
“I’ve had two kids, but not so much in my life, because they’ve both been busy. When my mom and dad got divorced, I was with my mom and second dad, but my second dad was becoming an actor and growing and his career was growing, so he was mostly out of the house,” he said and added, “Fathers are fathers, yaar.
Fathers and sons are very busy. Simple.” When asked about the important life lessons he learned from Anupam, Sikandar recalled that Anupam taught him to never be afraid of failure. “Don’t be afraid of failure, you never have anything to lose,” he recalled and shared another teaching from his father, “‘Bheeghua Man Barish Se Nahi Darho’ is such a wonderful thing I have learned from him.
” Sikandar was also asked about “his love language with his father” and he shared that their love language is all about giving each other space. “I don’t think we have any love language. It’s just ‘Kher sahab, how are you?’ ‘Nothing.’ ‘Ok bye’. That’s all yaar.
We give each other space. That’s the love language between him and me. I think that’s really important because it’s a love language as well. Giving each other space is a huge love language,” he said. He then added, “He’s not breathing down my neck and telling me what to do and what not to do.
And so, I’m not saying ‘stay away’, so it’s really nice. He’s amazing in that way. I think it’s great. That’s the love language.” Sikandar was last seen in Dev Patel’s Hollywood film Monkey Man and Prime Video series Citadel Honey Bunny.
