After reaching a long-awaited home hundred against the West Indies on Day 2 of the Ahmedabad Test, India opener KL Rahul dedicated his century celebration to his daughter, Evaarah. The opener stated that the milestone hit has a particular significance for him. Rahul and his wife, actress Athiya Shetty, welcomed their daughter on March 24 of this year. When asked about the gesture, Rahul said at stumps, “It was for my daughter.” Rahul, who is back at the top of the order following a successful tour of England, acknowledged that he was more nervous during a practice match against Australia A than he was throughout this series.
“Last week, I played a game. Since I hadn’t been on the field for five or six weeks, I was a little anxious. It was physically difficult to regain rhythm, play four-day and five-day cricket, and spend time in the middle,” he remarked. Rahul also mentioned Ahmedabad’s challenging conditions. “I played a much harder game last week. Although it has been physically taxing, it was necessary to get those miles. That was helpful to me today. The fashionable right-hander remarked that he is relishing the opportunity to adjust to new challenges as he reflects on his recent success. “It was enjoyable to play in England. I felt more confident after getting runs there, and it definitely helped to have some runs behind me going into this game. I feel refreshed after taking a long sabbatical, and I’m loving being back in the center.
