Krrish 4 to Begin Filming Mid-2026, Confirms Rakesh Roshan

Mumbai, September 9 — Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has officially confirmed that the much-anticipated fourth installment of the Krrish franchise will begin filming in mid-2026, with a targeted release in 2027. The announcement comes as a major update for fans who have been eagerly awaiting the return of India’s iconic superhero saga.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Roshan revealed that the scripting process for Krrish 4 was completed swiftly, but budgeting posed a significant challenge. “The script didn’t take a lot of time. The pressure was the budgeting. Now that we have an idea of the definite budget required for this film, we’ll be starting the film,” he stated.

The film marks a major shift in the franchise, with Hrithik Roshan stepping into the director’s role for the first time. Rakesh Roshan, who directed the previous three installments, will serve as producer and creative mentor. Hrithik, who also reprises his role as the titular superhero, expressed both excitement and nervousness about the transition. “I feel like I’m back in kindergarten,” he said at a recent event, acknowledging the challenges of directing a high-stakes project.

Pre-production is already underway, with extensive planning required due to the scale and complexity of the film. Rakesh Roshan emphasized that groundwork must be exhaustive before cameras roll, citing the need for precision in visual effects, action choreography, and storytelling.

The Krrish franchise began with Koi… Mil Gaya in 2003, followed by Krrish (2006) and Krrish 3 (2013). Known for blending science fiction, emotional depth, and high-end VFX, the series has become one of Bollywood’s most successful and beloved superhero narratives.

With Krrish 4, the Roshan duo aims to elevate the franchise to new creative heights. The film is expected to begin shooting in mid-2026 and release in 2027, pending completion of its ambitious production schedule.
