Kunal Kapoor will reportedly play the role of Lord Indra in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Devi Sita.
Kunal Kapoor, who was recently seen in the Netflix film Jewel Thief alongside Saif Ali Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat, will now be seen in Nitesh Tiwari’s magnum opus Ramayan. Kunal will reportedly play the role of Lord Indra in the film.
In a recent interview, the actor shared details about Ramayan, claiming that the film has been made on a scale that we have never seen before.
In an interview with News18, the actor said, “It is a very important film in our cultural history. It is a very important part of our cultural ethos. I think it is important that we have filmmakers and team who can give it the kind of scale that it needs.
It is made on a scale that we have never seen before.” Kunal said that the audience will be surprised after watching the film, “It is going to be something very special that is worthy of a film with a story like this. I am very excited about it. I think the audience will be surprised by what they will see.
It will be a spectacle that no one has seen before. It will be very special. It will be released only at the end of next year.” Recently, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis, who attended the first edition of Waves Summit 2025, praised Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayan.
He said, “Our art, drama and music are very old, and we only wanted to combine them with the latest technology – and I think that’s what you are doing.
So, yesterday, when I went to your mandap with the Prime Minister, I was amazed to see the quality of the Ramayana you are making. I think this is the way we should adopt to tell our stories to the new generation, and I believe what you are setting up will be the best in the world.”
Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi are set to play Lord Rama and Goddess Sita in the upcoming film Ramayana. The cast reportedly also includes Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman, Arun Govil as Dasharatha, Lara Dutta as Kaikeyi and KGF star Yash as Raavan. Planned as a two-part film co-produced by Namit Malhotra and Yash, the first instalment is targeted for a Diwali 2026 release, while the second will release in 2027.
