Unfortunately, on Saturday, the legendary Indian singer Lata Mangeshkar’s health condition deteriorated again and was admitted to Breach Candy hospital. According to the latest updates, she is in ICU and is responding well to the medical procedures.
Police security beefed up outside Breach Candy hospital. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray visited the veteran singer. Several Bollywood celebrities including Madhur Bhandarkar and Supriya Sule also reached the hospital. The entire Mangeshkar clan, including Asha Bhosale, Usha Mangeskar, sole brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar and other family members are present at the hospital. Rashmi Thackeray, the wife of Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, Union Minister Piyush Goyal, BJP leader M.P. Lodha, and others visited the hospital to enquire after her health.
Earlier, giving a health update about Lata Mangeshkar, Dr Pratit Samdani had said that her ventilator support was removed as there was an improvement in her health, but today is again put on the ventilator support.
On January 27, her official Twitter handle was updated with a statement that read, “Lata didi continues to be in ICU at Breach Candy hospital, Mumbai under treatment. She has been given a TRIAL of extubation (off the invasive Ventilator) this morning. Presently, she is showing signs of improvement but will remain under observation of the team of doctors headed by Dr Pratit Samdani. We thank each one for your prayers and good wishes.”
Ms. Mangeshkar, popularly known as the “nightingale of India”, is a recipient of the country’s highest civilian honour, the Bharat Ratna.
