Mimi & Mainak come together for the first time for their Bengali feature film ‘Mini’

Actor turned MP Mimi Chakraborty has teamed up with Mainak Bhaumik for his upcoming film ‘Mini’. This is the first time Mimi will be seen in a character that she has never donned for Bengali cinema. The announcement has been made by the actor Sampurna Lahiri & producer Rahul Bhanja.

Mini will see Mimi Chakraborty in a strong female character. She will be seen experimenting with a new avatar, new style, and genre of cinema. The audience will slowly get to know more about her character and the other casts of the film.

Mimi has talked about her new film: ”I’m really excited to work with Mainak. Our first interaction was when I was doing Crisscross and he had written the script of the film. Later he called me up during lockdown and gave me a brief on this story (one of the good things that happened during lockdown). I really liked how the character belongs to today’s generation and yet has a lot of inclination towards family. She’s independent but at the same time, her family is a big part of her life.  Relationships are big part of her life. A few twists and turns change her life. It is a great story to work with. Working with Mainak should be fun as I’ve heard he’s is very cool and easy-going.

Also, I’m really grateful and thankful that at this point of my career I’m getting roles where I can experiment with my character and acting skills. It is a women-oriented story, which we rarely see in our industry and I’m looking forward to be a part of it.”

Mimi is a woman-centric film and is also helmed by a woman producer is a rare feat and even more rare when the producer is another female actor of the Bengali film industry. Actor-producer Sampurna Lahiri, said, “I’m elated to come up with my production house Small Taalk Ideas alongside Rahul. Mini is our first venture and we have plans to do several films in the coming days. It is often seen and assumed that when a female actor comes into production, they themselves would be a part of the lead cast. But I have no intentions of doing so. I’m more interested in making good cinema through my production company and collaborate with great artists and empower other leading ladies of Tollywood.”
