Moushumi Chatterjee told she feels ‘pity’ for Amitabh Bachchan, called him a victim of his image: ‘He always keeps performing because that’s all he knows’

Moushumi Chatterjee said Amitabh Bachchan never let success get to his head, while Rajesh Khanna was affected by it a lot. However, she believes Big B was also a victim of his image as he had to save his ‘big image’.

Whenever stardom and star power are discussed, there is always a mention of actor Rajesh Khanna. There are many iconic stories telling the kind of things his fans did for him. Some wrote him letters with blood, some married his photo. People would even fight for the dust under the wheels of his car.

Women would smear it on their heads and claim that they were now married to the star. It was an experience no Indian actor had ever experienced. But as obsessed as his fans were, his downfall was equally disturbing. And this sudden ups and downs affected the actor a lot.

However, one star who has managed to keep his head down despite so much success is actor Amitabh Bachchan. In a recent interview with Filmfare, actress Moushumi Chatterjee spoke about how Amitabh Bachchan was always careful with his words and behaved in a certain way most of the time to maintain his image of a big star.

She said, “Amitabh Bachchan is a very intelligent person. He always uses politically correct words. I sometimes feel sorry for him because I feel most of the time he is just performing because that’s all he knows. I may be wrong but that’s how I feel about him. It’s because of his image. He has a big image, which no one else has been able to achieve.”

Talking about the difference between Amitabh Bachchan and Rajesh Khanna, Mausami said, “Amitabh has remained grounded despite immense success. Something Rajesh Khanna failed at. He was too happy with his success.

As the saying goes: ‘There is a lot of difference between an illiterate goon and a well-read goon’. I have never seen Amitabh Bachchan with sycophants.

However, Rajesh Khanna was always surrounded by these people. He needed that attention and pampering.” Mausami expressed her sadness while talking about Rajesh Khanna’s downfall. She said, “It is sad how all this got into his head and he saw a huge downfall. It happened very dramatically for him.

There was a time when he was at the top, nobody has seen such heights.” Earlier talking about the superstar, Mausami recalled how Rajesh once made a distasteful comment about her daughter and asked who her father was Jayant Mukherjee or Vinod Mehra.

Speaking to Nayandeep Rakshit, the actress said, “A lot of people who make nasty comments don’t realise that they are actually showing who they are. You come from that environment. No one thought I could retaliate.

I was always like that. I never cared if you were a superhero or a super heroine or anything like that. I think as a human being. If you are super even while working as a spot boy, then my hats off to you.” However, Moushumi continued to work with the star on-screen even after the incident.
